How to deploy your app into a Real Production Website
Comprehensive guide to Sitebuild's 'Go Live' mechanism, generating personal Vercel Access Tokens, and resolving the 'not authorize' error once and for all.
Encountering 'not authorize' error?
This happens when your stored token has expired, was revoked, or you pasted a browser login session instead of a Personal Access Token. Follow the 60-second steps below to generate a fresh token!
1. How does 'Go Live' work?
When you click Go Live and choose Real Production Website (Vercel):
Sitebuild packages your workspace React, Tailwind CSS, Vite config, and package.json files into a clean payload.
Securely calls the Vercel API (POST /v13/deployments) with your token to build the standalone website.
Vercel generates an ultra-fast global domain https://<project>.vercel.app with free SSL.
2. Why does 'not authorize' happen?
If you see 'not authorize', 'unauthorized', or HTTP 401, it is typically caused by one of these 3 reasons:
In the Vercel tokens list, items like 'Vercel Dashboard from Chrome on Windows' are merely web browser login sessions, not API tokens.
If your previously generated token expired or was revoked in Vercel, your browser's cached token will be rejected.
If the token scope is tied to a Team workspace where deployment permissions are restricted, Vercel blocks deployment.
3. Step-by-step: Create a new Token (60 seconds)
Follow these 5 simple steps to generate a valid Personal Access Token:
Visit Vercel Tokens Settings
Log in to your Vercel account and open the Access Tokens page.
Fill in 'Create Token' form fields
| Field | Value to fill | Note |
|---|---|---|
| TOKEN NAME | Sitebuild Deploy | Any friendly name |
| SCOPE | Personal Account | Select your personal user account |
| EXPIRATION | Never expires | Recommended so you don't encounter expired errors again |
Click 'Create Token' and COPY IMMEDIATELY
⚠️ Very important: Vercel only reveals the secret token once! Click Copy right away.
Paste into Go Live Modal & Deploy
Return to your Sitebuild project, reopen Go Live, paste your new token into the input, and click 'Deploy to Vercel'.
4. Other Common Deployment Questions
Do I have to re-enter the token every time?
No! Your browser securely remembers the token in localStorage. Future redeployments will reuse it seamlessly.
Is there a free deployment limit on Vercel?
Vercel's free Hobby plan offers up to 100 deployments per day, which is plenty for prototyping and development.
How do I update or remove a saved Token?
Simply open the Go Live modal, clear or overwrite the token field with a new value, and deploy. The new token will replace the cached one.
